![]() Angela Simon, Natural Chef Boulder, CO “Choosing Bauman College was one of the best decisions I ever made. I had been suffering from anorexia and bulimia nervosa on and off for eight years. Dealing with food issues can be difficult because, unlike other addictions, you can’t simply give up food — you have to eat every day. Bauman College gave me a conscious gratitude for food and brought me an awareness of the grace of food." Chef Angela Simon attended the Natural Chef program in Boulder, Colorado and graduated in February 2010. Angela had previously studied Fashion Merchandising at the Art Institute of Seattle, but was moved to attend the Bauman College Natural Chef program in an effort to conquer eight years of eating disorders and forge a new relationship with food. Although Angela was motivated by her personal well being and not by career goals, she found that work opportunities started coming immediately after graduation. After graduation, Angela went to work for Grant Family Farms. As their Boulder County Coordinator, she works with their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members during their growing seasons. She plans and prepares chef dinners and farm dinners, which are designed to showcase their farm products. With no previous culinary background, Angela found that her 5 months of Culinary Arts training at Bauman College gave her the skills she needed to prepare meals for Boulder County’s professional chefs and to educate them about using locally-grown produce. In addition to her work with Grant Family Farms, Angela is the Recipe Director/Developer for the Allergy Kids Foundation. With respect to the allergens that many people face in their diet, Angela follows the principles of SOUL: Seasonal, Organic, Unrefined, and Local. When she is not working with Grant Family Farms, Angela works as a Natural Chef in the Boulder area preparing farm dinners and church community dinners. She also does grocery shopping, meal planning, and cooking for families and singles. Angela meets her clients in their homes and discusses their dietary needs and requirements. She designs a custom food plan for them and a system to execute it, based on their daily, weekly, and monthly needs. |
